Soon to be 21!

Hello everyone! I'm only hours away from being 21. It feels weird because I've celebrated it a few weeks ago (when my aunts were in town) and I'll finally be able to legally drink in the U.S. Now, I wasn't one of those teens drinking like crazy but an occasional drink is nice sometimes. At least I wasn't posting it on social media (unlike many other people).

It's also strange to be drinking in the US because I've technically have been in 3 countries where I could drink. Costa Rica sort of counts, even though I was a few months away from the legal age there, but I only had sips of alcohol. Then I visited France and the most drinking I did was at a wine tasting (to which I cringed at every dry wine). And finally in Brazil I drank occasionally but never as much as my peers.

I've always taken the perspective that alcohol should be a social event and not getting sloshed. I believe if the U.S. were to take this approach there wouldn't be as many teens and young adults getting in trouble with it. At my small college, less than 3 thousand students, we have a good amount of first years get alcohol poisoning. But, this wouldn't be an easy fix, and would probably take a few generations to take hold.

I guess the main reason I've been thinking about it is because both of my grandpa's were alcoholics. My one grandpa, who died a year ago on my birthday, was an alcoholic that couldn't say away from drinking despite trying to stop several times. And my other grandpa was bad but, with his new wife, I think he is doing better. I never want to get addicted to alcohol, or any other substance other than writing, because the thought of it freaks me out.

Alright enough personal views and thoughts. I'm making some progress with the side series I want to do. I'm right now working on character info for the main people in the story. I'm also trying to figure out how long I want my chapters to be. I'll probably work on it some more before bed. After I get the first chapter prepped I'm planning on going back with my main writing and start fixing it up some more!

That's about it. I've reached 6+ k views to the blog now! And I almost freaked out that it was July for camp nanowrimo. It's not. ;) Also after my birthday I'll be working on a list of good sources for writing and what not. :) Have a good evening!

24 Episodes in 3 Days

Hello everyone! You may be wondering where I went. I have started my internship and I have to say people who do data entry do not get paid enough. <rant> Yes, it's redundant and "easy" but if you're a perfectionist (like myself) it gets very annoying! </endrant>

So, I decided to get Hulu since it's summer break and I didn't get caught up with Grey's Anatomy. And, yes, I did finish the whole series in 3 days. I rushed through it but I may rewatch it before Season 12. Hulu only has a week free and I really don't want to pay for it (since I have Netflix).

At first I thought it was a waste of my time to watch through all of the series instead of writing.
But, I quickly realized I'm trying to jump into another project quickly. I haven't even gotten my W-4 in yet to Channillo (sorry about that) but my writing seemed rushed with that project. I think by taking a step back it helped clear my mind.

I'm most certainly the type of person to rush into something interesting. I may start rethinking my concept tonight. I'll (hopefully) buckle down on writing at least by tomorrow. I've found it harder to bring myself to write. For one, the concept of being an author with no stable income, is absolutely terrifying to a college student with no money. And two, it's hard to visualize the field because of all of the stereotypes and realities of being a writer. I think I've gotten caught up in the fear of writing and need to just relax a bit.

Alright I think I'm going to hop off for the night. Only a few more days until I turn 21! And also I'm very close to hitting 6,000 page views overall! Pretty good considering April and May I was essentially MIA in the world of blogging and social media. Hopefully I'll post another update soon. Also, I may try to include more interesting articles once again into my blog posts. :)

Relaxing!

Hello everyone! I haven't did too much with my most recent writing or editing. I've mainly been relaxing and I spent some time with my grandma today. We had a mani/pedi which was ok but I like doing my own nails! Oh well, it was still nice.

I need to start doing some serious reading! I have 2 different books I have to read. The one is for a book tour, which I can read on my kindle, then there is another one that wants beta readers. If I don't need to do anything tomorrow I may start reading then! I'm going to get the book tour one set up on my kindle. Once I'm done I'll be writing a blog review of it!

If you want to sign up for a blog tour go to Novel Publicity to check out the benefits! I posted the picture of the book I'll be reviewing! Have a good evening! (Hopefully a longer blog post soon!)

A window closes and a door opens

Hello everyone! So, I officially did not qualify for the contest I previously mentioned entering. But, I am planning on fixing it up and trying with another contest. :) I should be studying my last final but I just got some great news! I signed up for Channillo and requested to be an author. The great news is that they liked my story concept!

The only bad news, I want to get started writing now. Yes, it will be with another book series, but I figured this would be a good way to gain some readers and learn what to watch for in my series. Plus it'll help keep me on a plot line instead of going back and changing things every 2 days. I currently have it to update monthly but, depending on time, I might do another series as well.

The last few days all I can think about is my third book! Yes, I need to fix up the first and second, but I'm still debating what I want to add into this third book. I will probably start editing the first book (again) with a pair of fresh eyes.

Also I may have gotten on a Twitter list or notification to follow. I've gotten over 100 followers in this last week alone. I did just get up into 2,600 awesome followers so that's my guess. Otherwise everyone is following me for my occasional updates. Either way, thanks for following and tag me in a post if I didn't follow back!

So in less than 15 hours I will have the freedom to write to my hearts content. If you have a minute check out Channillo and check out the memberships they have to offer! I'm going to do a little more studying before going to bed. Have a good evening!

Slightly Less Stressed

Hello everyone! It's been a while since my last blog post. The good news is I'm officially done with my courses. Now just to survive my finals. I played in band and my recital so now I'm done with music events until next fall.

Now I just have 1 paper, 1 presentation to edit, and 2 tests until summer. A bit overwhelming to say the least. I'm going to try to get my paper either done or close to done tonight. I also need to make note cards so I can study for my two tests. 4 more days until I can do some serious writing!

But until then I need to focus on my finals. Also, if you haven't seen Mad Max, it's pretty good and worth a view. Have a good evening everyone!

(Also thanks to all my recent followers on Twitter!)

Almost Done!

Hello everyone! I'm nearing the end of my junior year and it seriously can't come soon enough. I'm sick of group projects, mainly the one that's bad, and need to relax. I might also be doing another book tour on my blog, later in June, but I haven't heard back. Once school is done I can finally focus my attention on my book and really fine tune it. :)

I heard back from the contest. Well, more of the summary of what I wrote and what they understood. There actually was only one main negative comment so I was excited about that. But, I definitely need more than 750 words. A thousand would have been perfect for the piece I was writing. And if I don't win that contest I'm definitely modifying it so I can get more detail in there.

I won't hear back from that until June. Also click here for May and June writing contests that you can apply for. A LOT are on my birthday (May 31st) so I'm pretty excited for that. I will most definitely be trying to incorporate writing short stories into my writing routine. Getting feedback is important and I think I can learn a lot from it.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that I will be at the same internship that I was at last year! Hearing back from them made me remember that I started my book last July! I definitely want to be getting close to done with my first book by the 1 year and then maybe letting it sit for (what is this the fourth or fifth time) so I can be really positive that everything is perfect.

Alright, I need to do some more homework before my classes, so that will be all for today. Hopefully I can post again this weekend or at least be active on Twitter. Only 13 more days until I'm free for the summer!
